The Affordable Care Act requires insurance companies to publicly disclose and seek approval for proposed rate increases that exceed 10 percent. States are largely reluctant to grant these rate increases.
Insurance companies are now reporting proposed rate increases for 2017. I cover some but not all of these announcements on the state health insurance news pages at FreedomBenefits.net. For example , in Arkansas the individual on-exchange requests exceeding 10 percent are:
|QualChoice Life and Health||23.69%|
|QCA Health Plan Inc.||23.78%|
|AR Blue Cross & Blue Shield (MSP)||14.70%|
|AR Blue Cross & Blue Shield (Local)||14.70%|
Other similar announcements will be make for other states.
