PA pushes individual health insurance

The Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner issued a less than inspiring message to college seniors, suggesting that some should consider buying their own health insurance policies rather than remain on parent’s coverage.

Government has become the primary sales force in commercial individual health insurance and the Commissioner’s message is just the latest example.

Federal law requires employer-sponsored plans to offer coverage to dependents up to age 26. Employers are responding by raising the price of dependent coverage.
