Overlapping supplemental health insurance increases total coverage

A young man called the OnlineNavigator support line yesterday to discuss the possibility of using two or more supplemental insurance plans as opposed to one of the “richer” but more expensive plans.

His suggestion was that since the coverage is not integrated – that means that benefits are paid regardless of other insurance – then maybe it was better to “stack” coverage through multiple policies. The suggestion has merit.

I wondered whether one “top of the line” supplemental insurance would be enough. The platinum level plans offered by Core Health Insurance, for example, would likely be pricey that, for most people, other coverage would not we wanted or needed.

The main point is that supplemental health insurance policies can overlap if that is what you prefer. (This is generally not true for other types of insurance).
