Healthcare.gov eliminates the competition

The federal government took another significant step toward monopolization of individual health insurance enrollment this week with the creation of a special enrollment period apparently available only through sales on the federal government’s insurance exchange Healthcare.gov and not available through state or private insurance exchanges. This is a setback to private health insurance firms that have spend millions to develop health insurance exchange services with a more consumer-focused approach than the federal government’s system.

Freedom Benefits supports enrollment on all insurance exchanges but the focus is offering supplemental coverage not offered through the federal insurance exchange.
